Ash Wednesday, February 17, 12-1:30pm and 4:30-6pm

February 17 marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a day traditionally known as Ash Wednesday. Pastor Andrew will be available under the breezeway overhang from 12-1:30pm and 4:30-6pm to pray with you and to offer the imposition of ashes safely. Lent is a season of repentance and examination, preparing us to fully experience the joy of Easter!

Ash Wednesday Worship, February 17, 6:30pm

Starting at 6:30pm on February 17, Ash Wednesday worship will be available on the church’s YouTube and Facebook pages. An email will be sent with a bulletin and video link prior to the service.

Stations of The Cross, Wednesdays in Lent, 12-1pm
February 24, March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24

The Stations of The Cross is an ancient way of tracing Jesus’ steps from Pilate’s house to the cross on Calvary. The Stations of The Cross will be set up in the church breezeway each Wednesday during Lent and you are invited to walk the steps of Jesus from 12-1pm. Each station will include an image to contemplate, accompanied by a written reflection and prayer. You may take as long as you need at each station. This is a self-guided practice; there will not be a formal service at this time. Masks and social distancing required.

Lenten Book Study: “Forgiveness” by Marjorie Thompson

Forgiving others and humbly asking for forgiveness are central disciplines for all Christian believers. Lent, a time to reflect on our Christian journey, is an appropriate time to deepen our understanding and practice of forgiveness. Marjorie J. Thompson, author of the best-selling book Soul Feast, takes a close look at our understanding of forgiveness in this encouraging study. In six brief chapters, Thompson addresses such questions as the following:

Is forgiveness a Christian duty under all circumstances?
Or are there situations when Christians do not need to forgive?
Is forgiveness a matter between individuals, or is it meaningful only in the context of communities?
Is forgiving the best route to healing for the injured?
How do we get past emotional barriers to real forgiveness?

Using biblical examples and real-life situations, Thompson illustrates each chapter's theme in an informative and engaging way. With clarity, insight, and sensitivity, this book is the perfect resource for examining both our ability to forgive and our own need for forgiveness.

This study begins on February 21 and ends on March 28 and will meet at 2pm on Sundays. The study will be hybrid, using Zoom and the meeting space at Otwa’s.

You must RSVP for this study so that the church can purchase the right number of copies of the book. Please send an email to info@fpcenid.com to reserve your spot! Once you RSVP you’ll also be given the Zoom link.

Fellowship can be hard in a pandemic, but we are finding new ways each day to be together and to support one another in this time!

February Special Mission Offering

RSVP of Enid is a unique one-of-a-kind organization. What started out as a non-profit to help seniors get out and volunteer in their community, has flourished into an all-encompassing lifeline for seniors. Our calling goes beyond  just volunteering. Through our Mobile Meals program, we started seeing deficits in many areas of our senior’s lives.

To us what seems like normal everyday living, has turned into senior’s everyday never ending struggles.
Not being able to get out of their homes because they have no transportation or are no longer able to drive.
Not physically able to stand long enough to be able to fix a meal.
Not able to afford groceries because their low fixed income have all gone to bills, prescriptions and the never ending medical expenses.
Being isolated in their homes with only the smile of our volunteer who delivers their meal as their only lifeline to the outside world.

This is what the majority of our seniors face every day, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Lonely, isolated, sad, depressed, forgotten, frail and in poor health is the life many of them lead and they don’t know how, if possible, that they can break away from this horrible cycle they now call life.

Our mission and passion is to help our seniors in need. Not just to make sure they are fed but to make sure they live a healthy and adequate life. The ways we are making a difference is by identifying the problems and making a solution.

Please make a contribution to these important ministries by mailing your gift to the church office or by giving online with the link below. All offerings in the month of February will be matched up to $2,000.
