Money put to good use
We have received a report from the South Sudanese Development and Relief Agency in Juba, which is implementing the Church's Covid-response programme. Our Diocese contributed an initial £5,000 and then, from the Bishop of Salisbury's Covid-19 Appeal for the Sudans, another £19,300 in October, with the final £22,500 from the Appeal going yesterday, 2nd February. Successes and challenges
In Kadugli Diocese in Sudan, there are now 11 teachers and over 200 children in Peace Primary School, and they may well have 300-350 children next year. Space will be at a premium! Tea & Chatter, with bears
The Revd Peter Ostli-East tells us: "An initiative started in the Bourne Valley Benefice by David Mooney and Simon Dawson is helping people connect during lockdown.
"Tea & Chatter in the Bourne Valley is a weekly opportunity to gather at 4.00pm on Thursdays, via Zoom, to help those who might be feeling more than usually isolated keep in contact across the 5-Parish Benefice. From an initial sharing of everyday experiences and concerns, the gathering has progressed to include a Quiz, competitive sharing of Marmalade recipes, and an invitation to bring a Teddy bear or 2 to share in the party. Tea and cake is at the discretion of those joining in!"
Let your light shine
For Candlemas, the Revd Lorraine Dobbins from Christ Church Warminster says: "We have a symbol of light and hope in the church grounds, with meditations and prayers for those who want to engage."

This Month's Letter
The Dean of Salisbury, Nicholas Papadopulos, writes; "According to ancient tradition (!) the probationer choristers of the Cathedral celebrate Shrove Tuesday by cooking pancakes in the Deanery kitchen." Several weeks into another lockdown, this is not possible. So what is, and what can it teach us?
Read the monthly message here.
