Someone asked me the other day, “If you had it to do over again…” It doesn’t matter what the rest of the question is; it is the premise that is interesting.  It presents the idea that we could go back and make a couple of changes here and there in our lives, everything would be better. The reality is that we learned from all of those decisions that we made (or we should have), and out of those experiences came the wisdom of life. We do not become wiser simply because more years have passed us by, but because we have had more experiences of life.

The fact is that if we could go back to some earlier point in life and do it again, we would still make mistakes. It is just a part of being human. We live in a fallen world, and we have a sin nature that pulls us away from the highest and most noble things of life. We will fight that battle until we are in our resurrection bodies.

So, don’t play the “what if” game or the “if only” game. This is your life. This is where you are in life. Yesterday is gone. Learn from those experiences and live your life today in such a way that today and tomorrow will be everything God wants it to be.

Here is a word from the Word:

“Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:2-4)

Have a great Monday!
