Saturday at the Roundhouse

4070
Still quite a bit of welding needs to be done on 4070's cab. The next step will be to sand blast and primer. Still need to weld in much of the interior angles and braces. The wooden window frames and glazing have been completed and ready to be installed once the structural work is finished. Further work on the tender will have to wait for warmer weather. We are now just a laptop and a few tools way from having the plasma table ready for service. If you have a spare laptop that is compatible with Windows 10, consider donating it. Once the table is operational we can cut our own sheets for the tender. A couple of our members are working on informative and updated YouTube videos. If you have communications skill, your help is welcome. Our collection of documents for 4070 is expanding and we need some volunteers to help collate and maintain the storage of the drawings. both paper and electronic. All should remain on site and be accessible for the use of all.

Tool Room An important step for moving 4070 forward is the tool room reorganization. Last Saturday,volunteers were able to get a third of the pad demolished. Several younger members were guided along by our experienced volunteers.The jackhammer is heavy and we need volunteers to switch off frequently. We also need several people to clear away concrete debris to keep a path clear for the hammer. An extra person just to wet the area is helpful. Some of the chunks were tossed in the drainage trough and may need to be broken down. It is dusty, noisy work so do wear the masks and ear plugs that we can provide or bring your own. No one should be in the tool room without proper PPE. Help us out on the rockpile and learn to make little ones out of big ones.
The America
The car still has a list of chores that needs to get done. The interior still needs cleaning, and polishing the brass rails are among the jobs posted on the car. Just time and effort needed there. Spring is not that far off and the America is a candidate for excursion service that hopefully will resume this year.
Odds and Ends
Our lunch room has seen some major upgrades this past year, but still needs a new linoleum floor covering to help keep it clean. The material is on hand, we just need a volunteer with those skills.
Stall 3 has been occupied with a painting project. Depending on their progress, we may need some help with cleaning the stall.
RPCA
The RPCA Committee is looking for volunteers to help out. A lot of work has been done but there is still plenty of work to do. We have new artwork and graphic designs for the convention. Contact the office or any Board member if you are interested in being part of this endeavor in any way.
The roundhouse is a safe and compliant place to work and interface with others. Masks are required. Common areas are continually being sanitized for our safety.
