Regional Highlights: Brian Campbell featured in Czech Republic panel

Brian Campbell in panelOn June 3, Brian Campbell, NASA Senior Earth Science Education and Communication Lead and lead for the Trees Around the GLOBE Student Research Campaign and Trees Science Lead for the NASA GLOBE Observer, was interviewed and featured in a two-hour special expert panel in the Czech Republic. During this special panel feature “Countries in Need - Lessons from the Crisis with a Focus on Education: An Expert Live debate,” Brian talked about NASA Earth Science themes and observations of Earth system science spheres, The GLOBE Program, NASA GLOBE Observer, and the need for citizen science as well as the need for student exploration of science at a young age. Regional Events and Trainings:


  • U.S. GLOBE Weekly Watercoolers. Join the U.S. GLOBE community every Monday at 4:10p ET to connect and share resources. Includes presentations from GLOBE Partners and/or Teachers!
  • GLOBE Goes to CampGLOBE Goes to Camp” applications being accepted through the end of March: The “GLOBE Goes to Camp Pilot” continues in 2021 bringing GLOBE observation, data collection, and learning investigations/collaborations to camps across the United States.   • March 9, 2021 - Tina Harte in partnership with Camp Discovery’s Director Amy Ellisor will provide GLOBE Observer Clouds and Surface Temperature Training for a cohort of informal and formal educators, community leaders, parents and students in a “Friends of the Forest” camp exploration.
  • Todd Toth, NASA Goddard, worked with teachers in the Keystone Stem Education Alliance in the summer of 2020 for training involving GLOBE atmosphere protocols. This training will continue in the summer of 2021. Read the full story here! 

GLOBE Meets Natural Inquirer Opportunity


natural inquirer beeA great opportunity for in-service teachers in your network or pre-service teachers in your classrooms! 

The GLOBE Program in partnership with the USDA Forest Service is looking for K-12 pre- and in-service educators to write a blog or social media post connecting an issue of the Natural Inquirer​ with GLOBE protocols and/or learning activities. Crosswalks will be published on the GLOBE website and shared with educators in both communities.

The Natural Inquirer is a free USDA Forest Service science journal for K-12 students. 

GLOBE 2020 Yearbook Materials Needed


yearbook cover2020 was an unprecedented year, so we are calling this yearbook the ‘Year of Pivots’. Share the GLOBE activities and events your Partnership was able to hold, or share how you pivoted to meet the challenging and ever-changing needs of 2020.

Material is needed by the end of the week! It's easy:

  1. Start by taking a look at the 2019 Yearbook for inspiration.
  2. Update your information for 2020 using this template.
  3. Submit your page and pictures through the Google Drive Form.
