Walking Tours Across St. Louis

The Missouri Historical Society is hosting another slew of walking tours all over the City of St. Louis, from The Ville to Soulard.  Perhaps a virtual walking tour would work best for the chilly February weather?  To learn more, visit the Missouri Historical Society
National Geographic Resources

This month, National Geographic brings to you something that everyone in the world has been dealing with: disease.  This resource will help students explore how mapping can be used to identify the source of an outbreak and for disease control and prevention.  This module is designed for students in grades 6-8.  To learn more, visit the National Geographic Resource Library.

Missouri Giant Traveling Map Reservations

Interested in renting a Big Map?  Non-profit organizations will be charged a flat fee of $125 to cover shipping (round-trip via FedEx) and handling.  Maps can be picked-up and returned to our University of Missouri office for a handling fee of $25.  For-profit organizations should contact the MGA for pricing information.  Handling fees will be used to maintain the Big Maps and the variety of geography education tools included in the Big Map containers.  Maps can be checked out for a two week period.

Educators in Boone and Cole counties are eligible, while funding allows, to have free access to the maps thanks to a donation from Missouri Credit Union.  Please contact the MGA office for details.

All map rentals are contingent on the University of Missouri campus remaining open.

This Month's Geographic Fun Fact
It is oftentimes thought that George Washington Carver, famous African American scientist, invented peanut butter.  Did you know that the Inca of South America were likely the first to grind peanuts into butter?
