Intentions/people you wish to have prayed for Holy Qurbana this Sunday can be submitted here by 3PM on Saturday, February 6th.

If you cannot join in person, please join us for Divine Liturgy this Sunday via live stream on our YouTube channel.  Morning Prayer will begin at 8:45AM, followed by Holy Qurbana.

PLEASE NOTE
We are excited to share, God Willing, beginning Saturday, February 20th, we will have Vespers & Compline every Saturday at 5PM.
On Sunday, February 7th, the Church will commemorate and remember all of our Faithful Departed.  Please submit the names of your departed loved ones here by 3PM on Saturday, February 6th, so they can be remembered at the Holy Altar.
DID YOU KNOW?
The eighteen days between the Fast of Nineveh and Great Lent, are 'Fast Free' days.  The weekdays in which we typically fast on (Wednesdays & Fridays), are suspended in anticipation of the Lenten Spring.  Practically speaking, this helps us empty our refrigerators from 'non-Lenten' food.  However, this is not a green light to be gluttonous and overindulge on food.  Let us continue the prayerful discipline we embraced during the Fast of Nineveh, as we prepare to greet the season of Great Lent.
Saint Andrew's Malankara Orthodox Mission offers our sincere prayers and best wishes to our faithful who are celebrating their birthdays.  You will be remembered at Holy Qurbana.

Birthday
Andrew George - February 2
Betsy George - February 2
Shane Oommen - February 2
Jency Joy - February 17
Join us as we begin our Lenten Journey with the beautiful Service of Forgiveness, otherwise known as Shubqono.  Usually this beautiful service is celebrated on the very first day of Lent, which falls on Monday, February 15th.  We will celebrate this 'forgotten' service after Divine Liturgy on Sunday, February 14th

Let us begin the Fast in the spirit of love, reconciliation, and unity!  Afterwards the service, please join us for our Pethratha Feast before we enter into the Lenten Spring.   Please confirm your presence here: http://bit.ly/1stSundayofGreatLent
Sin as IllnessThe Church is the hospital for the cure of the illness of the soul
By Abbot Tryphon

Our Orthodox Faith defines sin as an illness that is in need of healing, not as a crime that requires punishment. The Church is a hospital for the soul whose therapists (priests) first sought therapy and then became the therapists. As a healing institution the Church is the place for broken souls.

We come before Christ as tarnished images, far from that which God intended. Yet this very Creator God is patient and loving, quick to forgive. Our God invites us to holiness, to be made whole. His grace is sufficient to lift us up out of our mire and into the heights of a joy and gladness that is meant to be eternal. We need only to humble ourselves and ask for help and the Kingdom is ours.

Heaven and hell are not about location, but about our relationship with God. All that is needed is our responsive word, followed by action. We say yes to God's invitation while seeking out the therapy that is ours within the life of the Church.

Wholeness (holiness) is ours through this relationship with Christ, Who's redemptive act upon the Cross, together with His having conquered death by death, delivers us from the depths of estrangement. As we are lifted up to God, having been made whole, eternal communion with God will be our destiny.
Make our church, your church!  If you have any questions/concerns, please email us at ComeAndSee@SaintAndrewLI.org
