Eleanor Robson
Bill introduced Eleanor’s talk, East Joins West Through Art
In 1991, a delegation from the Soviet Union came to Canada looking for an artist to go to the Soviet Union to create a book together, East Joins West Through Art. Peter Robson, the artist, and Eleanor Robson, the photographer, were invited to the Soviet Union for a working visit to last three weeks. They spent the first few days developing working relationships and socializing, and then the Soviet Union collapsed. Peter and Eleanor had the support of the working group but no legal visas! For safety reasons, the working group left Moscow and went to a country house in Borovsk before finding their way to Odessa in the Ukraine. Despite the turbulent times, Peter and the working group members worked together including Peter’s production of paintings of landscapes and buildings, and some of Peter’s work was put on permanent display in the Borovsk museum. While Eleanor and Peter over extended their stay, they had a rewarding experience and returned safely to Canada.
Members had questions. Scott thanked Eleanor for her interesting presentation.

Sue was thanked for all her efforts!
Bill suggested that we do a clean up for the District’s Environment Day on April 24, 2021. Bill suggested that we look at a clean up at Barrie Park or Port Bruce. There will be further discussion regarding this.
