Yarriambiack Shire Council reassures residents that works will continue in Rupanyup to improve the drainage situation after last week’s extreme downpour. Minor drainage works were completed during last week’s rain event, with more works and cleaning of stormwater pipes to be programed in the future.
Drains that carry a large portion of the town’s storm water away out to the north-east side of town were improved, helping the water drain rapidly. The channel leading out to the dams on the east side of town will need some attention and Council will look at some programmed works in the areas that require repair.

Proposed sale of 51 Gardiner St, Warracknabeal
Council is seeking community feedback about the future sale of 51 Gardiner Street, Warracknabeal. Council has determined that the house is surplus to Council needs and is looking to sell the property.
Community feedback is welcome until 5pm, 28 February 2021. A decision to proceed or not on the sale will be made at the March Ordinary Council meeting.

Yarriambiack Shire Council would like to inform residents that from the 8February, for the period of up to three weeks, your household may receive a call from an independent market research agency, National Field Services.
They have been commissioned to conduct a community satisfaction survey on behalf of the council. Similar surveys will be undertaken across Victorian councils in the coming months. The survey has been designed to assess the performance of the Yarriambiack Shire Council across a range of measures to identify ways to provide improvement or more effective service delivery to residents.

As of 11:59pm on 3 February 2021 new statewide restrictions are in effect:
- The limit on the number of people gathering in a household is reduced from 30 to 15, meaning the household members plus 15 visitors (excluding children under 12 months of age).
- Masks are mandatory in public indoor spaces. If you have visitors in your home, it is strongly recommended that masks are worn during the visit. Masks must be worn in indoor public spaces apart from when eating or drinking. If you are planning to leave your home – take a mask.
- The 75 per cent ‘return to work’ cap in both public and private sectors scheduled for Monday 8 February are paused and the current cap of 50% will remain in place.

Council invites you to a community engagement session in your town to hear your ideas about how we can work together to make our shire the best it can be. This process will help form the development of the Council Plan (2021 - 2024).
The 2021 - 2024 Council Plan will include:
- A community vision for the next 10 years: in 2031, what does your town look like, who lives here, what services and infrastructure are needed?
- A strategic plan to work towards for the next 4 years: What can we do by 2024 to achieve these community goals?
- A financially stable budget plan for the next 10 years: How do we best use Council funds to achieve these goals? What grants and alternative funding opportunities are required?
- An Asset Management Plan: We need to plan for maintenance as well as new projects. How do we balance this over time?
In addition to the community engagement sessions, Council has prepared a quick survey for residents to complete. The survey provides Council with demographic information that will be used to inform decisions based on community services, infrastructure and the needs of each community going forward. The survey, along with a reply paid envelope has been included with this letter. The survey is also available here.

Rates can either be paid in full by 15th February each year or by 4 quarterly installments – 30th September, 30th November, 28th February, and 31st May.

Yarriambiack Shire Council is funding 6 participants through the White Card Course being held in Longerenong on Friday 19th February. This is a fantastic opportunity for any young person between 16 – 25 years old who is looking at a career in construction.
