New E-Parking Meters in Cambridge

The Town of Cambridge has commenced the rollout of its new electronic parking meters with them scheduled to be operational by mid February 2021.

The new machines (pictured above right) simply require you to key in your vehicle registration number and then how long you wish to park for. The amount to be paid is then calculated, your payment is processed with an optional receipt available.

There is no need to display a ticket on your dashboard. The Town's Rangers will use license plate recognition software to identify vehicles to ensure your parking is valid.

The new system is good news for those with residential permits, as it allows you to manage your account remotely. Once you create an account you will be provided with an e-permit, doing away with the need for the paper version or renewals. You can update vehicle registrations on the permit at any time.

However, the e-permit does not change the parking Permit zones or the total number of vehicles on the permit. The new e-permits replace the need for hardcopy versions that can be lost or dislodged from sight. All current permits remain valid until the end of 2021.

Living Smart in Cambridge-Postponed.

Due to the COVID lockdown the 7 week course due to commence on Thursday February 4 has been postponed. All those who have registered will be contacted in regards to the proposed new commencement date.
