DUT HOSTS PRIVATE WORKS POLICY AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST WEBINAR

The Offices of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC): Research, Innovation and Engagement held a Private Works Policy and Conflict of Interest webinar, at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), on Tuesday, 2 February 2021, via MS Teams. Facilitators at the webinar were the Chief Risk Officer, Mr Sikhuthali Nyangintsimbi and the Technology, Transfer and Innovation Director, Professor Keolebogile Shirley Motaung. 

The DUT community were invited to share their viewpoints, comments and ideas in terms of reviewing key policies and looking at possible amendments that can be implemented once it has been revised and approved by all parties concerned.

DUT HONOURS JERUSALEMA DANCE COMPETITION WINNERS

Throughout this week, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) started delivering prizes to the six schools who had won the DUT ‘Spring into Summer 2020 Jerusalema Dance Competition’, which was held toward the end of 2020. 

On Tuesday, 02 February 2021, the DUT team began its journey of visiting the different schools from the various parts of KwaZulu-Natal to congratulate and award them for their dedication in putting together exciting Jerusalema dance videos for the competition.

Top on the list was Rippon Primary School in Sydenham which took first position in the primary schools’ category. The school received a R10 000 voucher and a framed certificate meanwhile each member of the team received a branded t-shirt and a R500 book voucher.

MOODLEY SAYS HELPING ONE STUDENT IS A DIFFERENCE WORTH A MILLION SMILES

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Ugeshni Moodley is honoured to have been the recent recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award, given in recognition of Innovative Excellence in the category of STUDENT CENTEREDNESS, and awarded to her for her sterling role and contribution towards the Student Bursaries Project. 

She won the award at the DUT Council Staff and Research and Innovation Awards Ceremony 2020, which took place virtually, last year.

THE 2020/21 DUT SRC VIRTUAL INDUCTION IS CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS

The Department of Student Governance and Development at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is currently hosting an online Student Representative Council (SRC) Induction Workshop to provide guidance on the University’s operations to the newly elected SRC leadership. 

The virtual workshop began on 21 January 2021 and is scheduled to continue throughout this week via Microsoft Teams. 

The SRC leadership was sworn in at the 2020/2021 SRC Virtual Inauguration Ceremony, which was held on the DUT website: www.dut.ac.za and DUT’s YouTube channel: DutCampusTv, last year, December 2020.
