Arts Impact Survey Shows $23.1 Million in Local Losses

The Asheville Area Arts Council’s most recent arts impact survey further highlights the devastating impact of COVID on the Buncombe County creative sector. Findings show $23.1 million in lost revenue since March 2020, with 16 businesses likely to close in the next 3 months.

One Buncombe Launches Monday

Attention “Gig” Workers! - This grant program will support COVID-19 affected Buncombe County-based small businesses re-open and rehire Living Wage employees. It is designed to support businesses who have had a hard time accessing relief grant capital and will prioritize funding people of color-owned, woman-owned, and sole-proprietor businesses.

GAP Opens 2/8

Attention Arts Nonprofits! - Starting Monday, we will be accepting applications for the Grassroots Arts Program Grant. Funding will be for operating expenses not programs this year, and limited to nonprofit arts organizations. Multicultural organizations also receive priority.

Arts Council Awards $11,000 in Microgrants for Community Projects

With support from Buncombe County and private donors, 19 community projects promoting hope and healing received funding. Grants were evaluated based on artistic merit, community enhancement, theme, feasibility, the completeness of the application, and whether or not the project was based in a low-income neighborhood, Title 1 public school, or served communities in need.
