Here is your community champions bulletin for this week:

Slough Data

The good:

Our coronavirus infection rate is continuing its downward trend. We’re now down to 499.5 cases per 100,000 which puts us at 4th highest in the country (Down from 3rd last week).

The not so good:

Sadly, a further 27 residents passed away from the virus in the last 7 day reporting period, the highest of the pandemic so far. It remains important that everyone stay home as much as possible and continue following Hands, Face, Space. It’s also important for people to continue following the lockdown restrictions as we’re still in dangerous territory.

Please help us share this important message about social spreading:

We’re still in national lockdown due to the continuing spread of covid19. Please stay home as much as possible and don’t mix with others. We still have high rates of infection, and with 1/3 of cases amongst people with no symptoms it’s important that we don’t become a #SocialSpreader”

An opportunity to be involved:

We would like to involve community champions and your networks in a few local engagement opportunities….

  1. We would like to feature community champions in our vaccine hesitancy campaign
  2. We would like to feature community champions and their networks in the next set of coronavirus campaign materials (videos, interviews and images), particularly if you work in healthcare, schools, corner shops or butchers
  3. We are setting up a range of vaccine information and Q&A sessions with local community groups. If you are involved in a local group that would be interested in this then please get in touch.

If you are interested in any of the above, or would like further information then please email us at publichealthslough@slough.gov.uk  , thank you!

Mass Testing

We’re continuing to roll our mass rapid testing across the borough for people that don’t have symptoms.

If you need to go out of your home for work, to go to the shops or even just to drop the kids at nursery then consider a rapid test. Rapid tests are designed for those without symptoms and there are sites across the town – and it’s free and you can pop in as often as you like!

More information here: https://www.slough.gov.uk/coronavirus/mass-rapid-testing

Tests can’t be done on those under 12 or on people who should be isolating after close contact with someone who is covid positive.

Our Next Zoom Meeting

The next champions zoom meeting will be Wednesday 17th February at 10am and 6pm with a more in-depth look at the vaccine and hesitancy. Further details will follow in due course.

Thanks everyone, stay safe.
