Alpine Canada withdraws from 2021 World Junior Competition due to COVID-19 travel restrictions

Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) has made the difficult decision to not send Canadian athletes to the 2021 World Junior Championships in both alpine and ski cross scheduled for Bulgaria and Russia in March 2021.

The decision to withdraw as a nation was not made lightly but in light of increased travel restrictions implemented both domestically and internationally related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic it became clear this was the only path forward. The health and safety of athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and community members remains our number one priority.

A special shout out to the athletes for their hard work in getting named to the team to represent Canada.

FIS Ski Cross World Championship Team Announcement

Alpine Canada is proud to announce the team of athletes who will be representing Canada at the 2021 FIS Ski Cross World Championships in Idre Fjäll, SWE. The announcement comes after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the originally scheduled FIS Freestyle, Freeski, and Snowboard World Championship in Zhangjiakou, CHN.

The team, who are the reigning Nations Cup winners look to continue the success they have had already this season with 10 podium finishes and three victories for Reece Howden.

Made up of a mix of up-and-coming athletes and team veterans, Canada is poised for success, after multiple podium performances on this track at a World Cup stop in the same location last month.
