Meet February 👋

Has anybody every really “liked” February? Turns out, after years of putting up with it, we’ve managed to produce a number of annual events and campaigns to make it a month actually worth looking forward to.

Whether you’re embracing Black History month with wider arms this year, taking part in Western’s Indigenous Awareness week for the first time, or eating local for more than the thrill of discovery, February’s got a lot of inspiring stuff going on. So jump in.

Indigenous Awareness Week

Western’s 7th annual Indigenous Awareness Week kicked off on Tuesday and runs until Saturday. With a workshop on Land Acknowledgements tonight, a seminar on Global Indigenous Health tomorrow, and more on Saturday, there’s still lots to take in. 📻

Black History Month

• Black London Network is also offering programming via their Facebook page to mark the month. With a week  dedicated to business, another to creatives, “20 Days of Black History” and more, there’s something for everyone. 🗓
   
• If you didn’t make it to the march itself, Museum London has posted their “Black Lives Matter, London” virtual exhibition tour for you to take in. 👀
   
• The London Public 📚 Library is also hosting a “Celebrate Black Voices” adult reading challenge. You’re only a few days behind on the contest—so it’s not too late to start logging hours!
   
• Growing Chefs’ virtual kids cooking class will feature Guest Chef Maryam Yaro Wright (of @YayasKitchenldnont fame) this month, to tell the story of the Black Experience through food. 🌱

• Support a local restaurant during this stay-at-home order with Londonlicious 😋—back with a take-out edition of the annual event—or try your luck at snagging a pizza from the recently opened Through Thick and Thin 🍕before they sell out (as they have been regularly).
