Youth Ministry

Youth Sunday, February 7

This Sunday our youth will lead worship at 11:15am as they invite the congregation to explore the theme of TREES.  How do trees illumine our understanding of our faith?  Join us for worship on this special Sunday either in-person or by live-stream.

Following the service, our young people will be collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for One80 Place, as a part of the 2021 Souper Bowl of Caring.  In addition, financial contributions can be designated on our church’s E-Giving site.  Every donation will support those in our community who are in need of shelter, food, and compassion.  And this year Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia will send One80 Place one dollar for every six dollars we raise, as a part of the Million Dollar Challenge.  Thanks for your support!

February Youth Group Calendar

Check out our February Youth Group Calendar which includes a treasure hunt!  The schedule is planned by our Youth Leadership Team, approved by our Christian Education Committee, and over the year includes a balance of the five areas of youth ministry:  Fellowship, Service, Congregational Care, Worship, and Discussion/Bible Study.

Sunday School Update!

High School Sunday School:  This group will not meet this week due to Youth Sunday.  Questions about this class?  Contact Amy Shubert, Chantal Byrne, or Hayley Carter.  Text @fshsss to the number 81010 to receive class reminders and updates.

Middle School Sunday School (9:45-10:05am):  Join Steve & Jenks Bailey and Betsy Martin via Zoom for a fun and enriching Sunday school class.  This twenty-minute virtual format was designed based on the feedback that you (our 6th and 7th grade families) offered at the beginning of the school year.  If you need the Zoom link or if you have any questions about this class, please contact:   Steve Bailey, Jenks Bailey and Betsy Martin.

Can You Color?

Lent is a season of preparation from Ash Wednesday to the day before Easter, beginning this year on February 17 and ending on April 3.  This year all youth are invited to participate in a special weekly devotion from Illustrated Ministry: Where Your Heart Is.  This theme comes from Jesus’ teaching in his Sermon on the Mount about storing treasures. This Lent, we invite you to explore the many treasures you have in your life. Some are physical treasures we can touch, hold, store, and give. Some treasures are invisible, yet still greatly matter and guide our lives. By exploring Gospel passages about treasures and matters of the heart, we invite you to wonder more deeply about what kinds of treasure matter, why we store treasures, and the power these treasures have in our lives.  Devotional guides and colored pencils will be mailed to be received by Ash Wednesday, February 17.  Want to see part of the first week's devotional?  Check it our here: Lenten Devotional Preview.
