Major intersection demolition at SW Holden St and upcoming SPU night work
Construction started in June 2020 and is expected to continue through 2022.

Intersection upgrades happening at SW Holden St and SW Kenyon St
We have started to demolish the intersection at SW Holden St and Delridge Way SW. While access to both streets will be maintained, expect an increase in traffic through this area as this work takes place.
 
We will begin demolishing the intersection at SW Kenyon St and Delridge Way SW as early as next week. A uniformed police officer will be present at all times to direct traffic through the area.
 
Please drive with caution as you navigate these sections of the corridor.
Major construction updates
  • Limited work on Monday, February 15
    • We will limit our work throughout the corridor in observance of Presidents' Day
  • Side street closures on Delridge Way SW during demolition and paving
    • Currently closed:
      • SW Thistle St
      • 20th Ave SW at Delridge Way SW in Zone C
    • Intermittent side street restrictions
      • 22nd Ave SW in Zone B
      • SW Trenton St
      • You will still be able to access these streets, but may need to wait for construction activity
  • Electrical upgrades near SW Oregon St and SW Alaska St
    • This week, we started upgrading electrical utilities on the east side in preparation for upgraded traffic signals at SW Oregon St
    • Next week, we will restore the sidewalk and driveways where the new utilities were installed
    • Residents will be notified in advance of driveway closures
  • Night work and water service impacts as part of the SW Juneau St watermain upgrades
    • There are anticipated interruptions to water service as a part of the pipe work between SW Findlay St and SW Graham St
    • Night work is currently scheduled to take place on February 18. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is leading this work and will notify affected properties.
    • Please call SPU's emergency hotline at 206-386-1800 if you experience any unanticipated impacts to your water service 
  • Intersection demolition and restoration at SW Holden St
    • We will demolish and restore the intersection in three phases beginning at the southwest corner and working our way north
    • Access to and from Delridge Way SW and SW Holden St will be maintained
    • People traveling in this area should anticipate delays in travel times and seek alternate routes
    • This restoration work will be completed in March
  • Intersection demolition and restoration at SW Kenyon St to begin as early as February 19
    • Demolition will be completed in two phases. Access to driveways will be maintained
    • A uniformed police officer will be on site 24/7 to help with traffic in this area
Work happening this week and next week
For all work described below, residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any anticipated impacts. Dates for construction activities scheduled are subject to change depending upon weather.
  • Zone A (West Seattle Bridge to SW Findlay St)
    • Curb ramps and sidewalks to be installed throughout Zone A for the next few weeks
      • Last week, we started work at SW Edmunds St and SW Hudson St. We will begin pouring concrete on the west side of SW Edmunds St as early as February 15
    • Bus stop upgrades on the west side of Delridge Way SW throughout Zone A
      • Concrete work at the SW Andover St bus stop will continue through next week
      • Concrete work at the southbound bus stop at SW Genesee St will also continue through next week
    • Continued demolition and paving on Delridge Way SW (west side)
      • We will remain in Zone A through February to complete final concrete pours for select roadway panels and the roadway median
      • Sidewalk, curb ramp, and driveway upgrades between SW Oregon ST and SW Alaska St continued this week
      • The remaining paving work between SW Brandon St and SW Findlay St is scheduled for the week of February 15 
    • Continued demolition and paving on Delridge Way SW (east side)
      • Electrical upgrades happening near SW Oregon St and SW Alaska St
      • Sidewalks and driveways will be rebuilt as part of this work
         
  • Zone B (SW Findlay St to north of SW Orchard St)
    • Watermain installation and upgrades near SW Juneau St to continue through February
      • We will continue working between SW Findlay St and SW Graham St for several weeks. We will also upgrade and connect pipes on SW Juneau St on both sides of Delridge Way SW.
    • Curb installation continues throughout Zone B
      • As roadway paving is completed on each block, we will return to form and pour curbs through Zone B
      • This work has started and will last for several weeks. Driveways will not be impacted during this work
      • Please follow posted pedestrian detours and sidewalk closure signs as we complete this work
    • Roadway demolition and paving continues on the east side of Delridge Way SW in Zone B
      • Demolition 22nd Ave SW and SW Holly St continues
        • Paving is now scheduled to begin the week of February 22
      • Demolition between SW Willow St and Croft Pl SW to continue into next week
        • Paving will begin once demolition is complete. Access to homes in the area will be maintained via Croft Pl SW.
      • Demolition between Croft Pl SW and SW Orchard St to begin the week of February 22
         
  • Zone C (SW Orchard St to SW Roxbury St)
    • Intersection demolition and restoration at SW Holden St has started
    • Intersection demolition and restoration at SW Kenyon St to begin as early as February 19
    • Electrical upgrades along the west side of Delridge Way SW between Webster St to Sylvan Way SW
      • Sidewalk restoration and paving to continue into next week
    • Electrical upgrades on the east side between SW Cloverdale St and SW Trenton continue
      • Paving will continue through next week
      • SW Trenton St may be temporarily restricted during this work
    • Duct bank installation continues near SW Thistle St
      • We will move onto SW Thistle St soon to begin installing duct banks
      • Installation and sidewalk upgrades will last for several weeks
    • Demolition on the east side of Delridge Way SW for electrical and bus stop upgrades between SW Thistle St and SW Cloverdale St continue
      • Paving is scheduled to begin as early as February 16. Driveways will be rebuilt as a part of this work.
      • Residents will be notified in advance of the upcoming driveway closures. Please call or email us if you have any concerns about accessibility during this work.
    • Bus stop upgrades near SW Barton St
      • We recently demolished the area around this bus stop
      • We will pour concrete next week to restore this area
    • Roadway and sidewalk demolition in Zone C
      • Roadway paving on the west side of Delridge Way SW between SW Henderson St and 20th Ave SW continues through next week 
      • Paving on the west side of Delridge Way SW between SW Holden St and SW Kenyon St continues
        • We will be working to restore the roadway where duct bank work occurred late last year
        • Paving will include roadway, sidewalk, and curb restoration and will last for several weeks
REMINDER: Businesses along the corridor are open during this work. Please follow posted detour signs as you visit these businesses.

What to expect during paving and construction
  • Work hours are typically between 7 AM and 7 PM but can last until 10 PM without a noise variance
  • You may experience temporary access restrictions in and out of driveways on Delridge Way SW during active demolition
  • Loud hammering, dust, and vibrations
  • During active demolition, onsite crews will be able to provide access to emergency vehicles of for people leaving their homes for emergencies
  • If you need your car in a timely manner, we recommend parking on side streets. Otherwise, please be prepared for delays and plan to connect with crews onsite to coordinate access.
  • Steel plates or a gravel ramp will be placed to provide access to the driveways outside of active work hours
  • Up to one week of driveway restrictions as concrete cures directly in front of your property. We will deliver notices to any properties with this impact.
  • Vehicle lane shifts around work zones
  • Temporary bus detours and bus stop relocations. Please contact Metro for more information. 
Once paving and demolition is complete, crews will return to form and pour curbs and sidewalks. Please follow posted pedestrian detour signs when navigating these areas.
