Worship from Home Resources

Fifth Sunday after Epiphany &
Communion Sunday

February 7, 2021
Live Worship on Zoom at 10:00AM
Dear POVUCC Friends,

Join us as we gather on Zoom for live worship Sunday, February at 10:00am for the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany and Communion Sunday. Continuing through the first chapter of Mark’s gospel, we encounter another miraculous healing, that of Simon’s mother-in-law. In this story Jesus arrives at Simon’s house and heals the feverish mother. She seems to immediately get back up, and even begins to serve Jesus and the audience. Pastor Mary Sue offers that there is a deep message for us all about the healing power of Jesus’ touch. Further, within the passage we are shown a model, through Jesus’ own demonstration, of how to take a moment away from the chaos for restoration of the self through prayer.

We will continue our worship format on Zoom. At 10:00 am on Sunday morning we will worship together on Zoom, walking through an abridged version of the "Worship from Home" service. If you wish, you can print out a copy of the Worship from Home PDF for your use during the Zoom worship time. Please note that most of the content on the Sunday Zoom is the same as what's included in the Worship from Home PDF below, but not every element on the PDF will be included in our Zoom worship.

If you wish to join us on Zoom, please log in at 9:50am so that we have time to greet one another and take our virtual seats. While we hope to see your faces,  you do not have to be on camera to attend. You may turn off your camera or dial in with a land line (with this option, you will be able to hear what is happening in the service as it is being spoken live or played via pre-recorded video). We will stay on after the service is complete to share a time of fellowship.

Thank you to Susan Namba and family for providing our children's message, as well as to Music Director, Andy Riggs, for providing this week's special music. Continued gratitude to Andy and Church Pianist, Chad Kemp, for providing worship music for each Sunday's service.

NOTE: We encourage the preparation of your elements for communion prior to beginning your time of worship today.

POVUCC ONLINE GIVING
For those that make their contributions online, you may be aware POVUCC pays a small processing fee for each transaction. While these fees are relatively small, during the course of the year, they do add to our ongoing operational costs. We recently upgraded our online giving web page to offer you the option of increasing your donations to include these fees. At the end of the year, your giving statement will include these optionally included processing fees in your annual totals.
ROOTS & FRUITS: The Roots & Fruits online contemplative practice will meet Sunday, February 7 from 5:00-6:00pm. If you are planning to participate, please send an email to Jimi Valiente-Neighbors at jimiliz.mvn@gmail.com for the link and password, or if preferred, send a text to 831-332-8247. When you contact Jimi, please share your full name. An ASL interpreter is now available for this meeting. Please contact Jimi one week prior to make arrangements.
