This edition includes: what the 2021/2022 police budget means for you, a tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore; a continued reduction in overall crime alongside investment into crime prevention; scams to be aware of; more funding for community safety projects and a range of campaigns that I proudly support.
Due to the new COVID-19 government guidelines, my office is mainly working from home and, whilst we are able to take phone calls to our usual OPCC number, I would encourage you to contact us by emailing opcc@westmercia.pnn.police.uk or by using our social pages 'westmerciapcc' on Facebook and Twitter. Any members of the public needing to call the office can do so between 09:00 and 17:00, Monday - Friday. Please stay safe and look out for each other.
I am pleased to work with Telford & Wrekin Council to make a difference to communities
Telford & Wrekin Council and myself will be investing in a new Safer Communities Project.
Building on the success of the Brookside Safer Streets Project, an additional £1.5m will go towards preventing crime and anti-social behaviour in other areas, improving the quality of life for local communities.
I have set a new road safety strategy to further reduce road casualties
Too many people are killed or seriously injured on West Mercia’s roads.
As part of my commitment to improving road safety, I've set out a new approach to reduce casualties through prevention, ensuring that enforcement is effective, rehabilitating offenders and making sure victims are supported.
As part of my road safety commitment, I join the force in supporting Op Snap
The initiative allows members of our communities to submit their dash-cam footage to West Mercia Police via their website, helping to tackle road offences.
There were nearly 2,000 submissions in 2020, with over 95% of them processed.
Worcestershire County Council have pulled together resources to help organisations
The resources, including posters, leaflets and social media communications, will help businesses and organisations during the pandemic. Resources here »
