Connecting with students through winter hikes, campfires, and even snow volleyball
This semester we are equipping students to share their faith through natural friendships with a four-week training series. A local church even provided one dozen cookies for every single Cru student to give to a neighbor, classmate, or coworker to show love and build a relationship toward introducing them to Christ.

The natural friendship trainings will culminate in Cru’s Virtual Winter Conference (February 5-6), where students will be equipped and challenged (virtually) to share the gospel with three friends in the following week. In this season of disconnection, we want to see Jesus’ words of life extended through the natural relational networks that God has given students.

At the same time, we are attempting to personally disciple every new Cru student this year. On a Zoom call with the student-leaders, everyone’s eyes got wide as we started talking about the challenge to offer personal discipleship to all 44 new students. It’s fewer new students than typically join us in a non-pandemic year, but God must be deeply at work in these students for them to connect to a Christian organization in a year like this!

With more intentional development, this new class has the potential to make a difference for Christ as things open up further next school year. The student-leaders are working through the list of all the new students, making sure someone is assigned to personally develop each one in their relationship with Christ.

There is a lot more going on: outdoor hikes (photo above) and bonfires (photo below) to create connection while following health regulations, 14 different small groups meeting each week, participating in a Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of service at WMU, participating in WMU’s virtual activities fair. It’s all about making the most of the opportunities that God is giving us and trusting him to build disciples among college students.

Thank you for the ways that you partner with us to make it possible!

Please pray...

-Pray that students will be filled with hope, joy and peace (Romans 15:13!).

-Pray for fruitful conversations about faith with classmates and roommates.

-Pray for more students to begin to follow Jesus.

-Pray for some graduating seniors who are considering interning with Cru.

Family Update
Our kids haven’t been around college students as much as in a typical year, but last weekend on Cru’s welcome back hike, Max and Zoey had the time of their lives throwing snowballs at students while Lucy snoozed in daddy’s backpack.  (Photo: Max ambushing the students.)
