IPMN joins a broad coalition launching a petition to prevent Facebook from revising its hate speech policy to define critique of Zionism as inherently antisemitic.

Can I use ‘Zionist’ if I criticize Israel?

Right now, Facebook is assessing if the term “Zionist” is being used as a proxy for “Jewish people or Israelis” in attacks on its platform. This move is part of a concerning pattern of the Israeli government and its supporters pressuring Facebook and other social media platforms to expand their hate speech policies to include speech critical of Israel and Zionism.

2. Film is banned by Israel

Banned in Israel, Jenin Jenin is dedicated to Iyad Samudi, the producer of the film, who returned home to Yamun after the shooting of the film was completed. On June 23, as Israeli forces besieged Yamun, Samudi was shot and killed as he was leaving a militarily-closed area with three friends. 4. Israel to rein in rights groups over use of ‘apartheid state’

“Groups that call Israel an “apartheid state” will be banned from lecturing at schools, Israel’s education minister has said.

“The move targets one of Israel’s leading human rights groups B’Tselem after it began describing Israel and its control of the occupied Palestinian territories as a single apartheid system.” Read the Story
