A Letter From Co-Author Abby Schneiderman

Dear Reader,

We did it. We made it through quite possibly the craziest year any of us parents have ever experienced. We remote schooled our kids, we toggled between Zoom work meetings and cooking dinner, we stressed over figuring out how to get enough exercise and limit the screen time (often with mixed results, at best). We spent an enormous amount of time each day looking for passwords, login information, and proper credentials to access every meeting on various platforms and devices. It’s exhausting to even think about it—and my whole world is about planning and organization!
I am the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Everplans, a leading company in digital life planning, and co-author of the new book In Case You Get Hit by a Bus: How to Organize Your Life Now for When You’re Not Around Later.

For the past ten years I’ve been obsessed with helping people get organized for the unexpected. The book helps people think through everything that needs to be organized today so if something happens, or if you just need access to important documents and info at your fingertips, it’s all in one safe, easily accessible place.

The book walks you through everything from your important passwords and secret codes that are only in your head, to your important financial accounts that someone would need to know about in the event of an emergency, to your important contacts, legal documents, and even cherished memories you want to make sure get passed down properly.

As parents, it’s so important we know the things we need to have organized to protect our kids—and as kids of aging parents, it’s important to know the things we need to help our parents. The book will walk you through all the details, and will give you tips and tricks for not only getting started but making this more a part of your life.

Never before has a New Year’s resolution been more timely. I hope you enjoy the book and consider purchasing it for your family members as well!

Best wishes for a great 2021.
