Welcome to our 2021 Newsletter

If I've not spoken to you so far - belated Happy New Year!

TapIT started off on a positive note with many of you continuing with your Chat sessions over the festive period. Well done for the continued show of enthusiasm and thank you to all the staff and volunteers that made this possible.

This month we are setting you a challenge to complete a Google Review of Tap into IT. We welcome feedback and would love to know how you rate us. Details are included at the foot of this email. Thanks in anticipation and let us know if you have any problems.

I also wanted to share a few newsworthy items and topical issues that may be of interest to you.

Date for your Diary: Tuesday, 16 February @ 4pm

Join us for a virtual get together with a pancake (optional) and cuppa on Tuesday, 16 February for 40 to 50 mins.

Mike will drop in to say "hello".

We'll then have a short talk on the origins of Shrove Tuesday, presented by Samuel / Aaron.

This will be followed by a pancake topping competition and a chat.

We are aiming to have a #TapITSpotlight on social media on a monthly basis. If you would like to share an aspect of your life with TapIT members, please speak to your Chat Group Facilitator / Helper.

Supermarket Shopping Delivery Options:

Lesley, one of our Digital Support workers, wrote a rather good article comparing the supermarket delivery costs v spend.

Her review also includes details of local shops and their delivery charges.

Do you enjoy Classical Music / Ballet / Opera / Musicals?:

Did you know that the Edinburgh Library website offers access to over 1,000 classical concerts, 200 + operas and various ballets, musicals and documentaries?

If you are a member of the library, you should have everything you need to get started. Interested? Then check out the How to Guide that we have produced to help you get up and running on this platform.

If you need help, speak to your Digital Support worker during your chat sessions. Good luck....we know you won't need it 😜

FREE TRANSPORT TO VACCINATION CENTRE:

HcL are offering FREE transport for people, with mobility challenges, to get their vaccine.

You do not need to be registered with HcL.

Any person who has challenges with getting out and about due to age, disability, heath issues (short or long-term), additional support needs or geographic remoteness is eligible to use this service.

Bookings are subject to availability so call the relevant office as soon as you have your appointment and HcL will do their best to help get you to your appointment and back home safely.

Update on TapIT Donations:

As you may know, we set up a donation page on our website last year, at the request of a number of our members. We are pleased to announce that donations received to date total £630.

Thanks to those that have kindly donated to our cause. These donations will help fund a place in one of our chat groups or provide essential 'tech support' to those that need it.
