Parish council considers initial idea for new community hall

Preliminary ideas for a new community hall on the site of Roding Valley Hall in Station Way, Buckhurst Hill, have been considered by Buckhurst Hill Parish Council.

Initial possibilities for a new two-storey building include a main hall, Parish Office, kitchen, communal hub / cafe and a library or quiet space on the ground floor.

The first-floor could accommodate additional office space and a main meeting room with a viewing area down into the main hall.

Thursday's parish council accommodation committee was told detailed sketches will now be prepared while consultants will develop a business case and funding proposals for the project.

The council will also consult with local organisations and residents when COVID-19 restrictions allow.

* Roof repairs to the Woollard Centre, Buckhurst Hill, are to be carried out shortly by the parish council. External lighting is also to be installed and the water boiler replaced.
