Alaska INBRE invites you to an online screening of this award-winning documentary. You can receive a link to see the film by registering here. The following day, Friday, February 12th, the IAB Life Science Seminar Series will host a panel discussion on the topic of gender disparity in science at 1pm. The panel will reply to questions related to the documentary and general Q&A. Please submit your questions in advance here, and they will be answered as time permits. Jointly sponsored by Alaska INBRE, UAF Institute of Arctic Biology, and UAF Department of Equity and Compliance.

ABOUT THE FILM:  This film chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries - including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists - who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.
