Dear Friends,

Peace of Christ and I hope this note finds you well. Last week I was out of the office and many thanks to Fr. Tim for the time away! I first spent a few days on silent retreat in the Milwaukee area and then visited a long-time priest friend who serves in the Diocese of New Ulm, Minnesota. I appreciated the time to rest and pray…and I came back with a long list of things to work on. Both my friend AND the Lord are very good at pointing these things out!!

This week we begin our celebration of Catholic Schools Week in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. This year our Catholic East scholars – like all of us – are seeking answers beyond their usual subjects of math, reading, and science. Questions like: why can’t I see my friends? When will this end? Why would God allow this to happen? Perhaps what all of us are seeking more than anything else during these times is the little word of hope.

In a year where so many questions beyond those found in textbooks are being asked by our students, I am so grateful for the extraordinary leadership that Mr. Tony Gonzalez and Mr. Timothy Trzcinko have provided. They have been a great source of hope for our teachers and our scholars. I am amazed by the ways our faculty and staff have consistently gone above and beyond to creatively educate and to provide words of hope. Please join me this week in praying for our Catholic East school community and giving thanks for the tremendous work that they have done! Know of my prayers and blessings on your week.

Video Mass for Sunday, January 31st. Here is the recorded Mass for this upcoming Sunday (4th Sunday in Ordinary Time). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. Please know that we will continue these recorded Masses indefinitely. We are so grateful to DV Productions, our Liturgists Mary Robertson and Meggie Moyer, and our cantor Amy Sobczak for their efforts in making our prayer as beautiful as possible.

In Person Mass. Please be sure to register online to attend an in person Mass. Our Mass schedule and registration links can be found on the Reopening and Mass Times pages of the parish website. The links to those pages are included every week at the bottom of this newsletter.

Prayer Service for Hope and Harmony. We recently recorded a Prayer Service for Hope and Harmony. We provide a worship aid for this as well. This prayer service was developed to encourage us to live in the love of Christ and to give us ways that we can be the Body of Christ to each other at this tender time in history. We hope it inspires you and gives you the courage to help make changes that will create a country where all can live together in peace and justice. Thank you to all those involved in the planning and production of this beautiful service.

Bulletin. Our bulletin relaunched last weekend with a new format! We now have one bulletin for the Family of Four Parishes. Please be sure to read it to get this week’s updates! Click here to view the bulletin or click the picture below.

Parish Financial Support. We continue to be humbled by your financial support of the parish during these tender and tenuous times. Thank you so much, it has been amazing to witness the generosity of so many! Please mail in your envelopes and contributions to our parish office (SS Peter & Paul Parish, 2491 N Murray Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211), and our parish staff will process these.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (Cell: 414-305-3824; baumgardnerj@archmil.org) or Fr. Tim (Cell: 414-762-7986; kitzket@archmil.org) if you need anything! Be assured of our love and prayers.

Sincerely, with love,
Fr. John
