This year’s first career panel organized by INet NYC will be dedicated to careers in the field of scientific program and project management. In this event, we aim to discuss with our expert panelists how to sail from a research career to program management in a relaxed, conversational atmosphere.
Join us virtually to meet professionals in the field. Panelists will share their career trajectories and answer questions from the participants.
Data science is one of the fastest-growing fields and has been revolutionizing a variety of industries. We, scientists, are no exception to that. But just the thought of coding can cause many biologists to get highly strung. Without prior learning, it’s difficult to know where to start. Maybe you want to build on your skillset to be eligible for a broader selection of jobs. Or maybe you are fed up with being a slave to cell-culture and never want to go to the lab on a weekend again. You might want to live at the intersection of coding and experiments. Whatever your motivation, here are some tips to get started.

Going from a concept to a commercialized product is extremely challenging and it takes more than a great idea to launch a successful company. As STEM students and postdocs we are experts in our field and able to create a concept but we sometimes lack the necessary knowledge to evaluate and give value to our products. Whether it is how to build a business plan, understanding legal matters but also knowing how to communicate and pitch your product to investors, we most certainly need guidance.
Join the New York Academy of Sciences on Friday, February 5th, 2021, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM EST, for a Conversation with Dr. Malika Grayson, author of Hooded – A Black Girl's Guide to the PhD, where she’ll share her experience and practical strategies for navigating STEM culture. This one-on-one talk will be followed by a Q&A session where Dr. Grayson will answer questions directly from attendees.

It is an organization that aims to provide support and professional development opportunities for international STEM scientists in the NYC area.
