My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.

come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF LOURDES

Prayer
Be blessed, O most pure Virgin, for having vouchsafed to manifest your shining with life, sweetness and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to the child, St. Bernadette: 'I am the Immaculate Conception. ' A thousand times we congratulate you upon your Immaculate Conception. And now, O ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of mercy, Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners, Comforter of the afflicted, you know our wants, our troubles, our sufferings deign to cast upon us a look of mercy.

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes, you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary, whence you dispense your favors, and already many have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and physical. We come, therefore, with the most unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for us, O loving Mother, the granting of our request.

(state your request)

Through gratitude for your favors, we will endeavor to imitate your virtues, that we may one day share your glory.
Our Lady of Lourdes, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your divine son while upon earth. You have the same influence now in Heaven. Pray for us; obtain for us from your Divine Son our special requests if it be the Divine Will. Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

Saint Bernadette, pray for us.

Today our Savior was presented in the temple. Let us adore him as we say:
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

Christ Jesus, you are the light that enlightens all nations,
— shine upon those who do not know you, that they may come to believe in you, the one true God.
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

You are the redeemer and the glory of your people Israel,
— may your Church proclaim your salvation to the ends of the earth.
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

Jesus, desire of the nations, Simeon, the just man, rejoiced at your coming,
— lead all men to recognize that you still come to them.
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

Lord, when you were presented in the temple, Simeon foretold that a sword of sorrow would pierce your mother’s heart,
— strengthen us to accept the sufferings we endure for the sake of your name.
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

Christ Jesus, joy of all the saints, Simeon longed to see you before he died, and his prayer was answered,
— hear our plea for all the dead who still yearn to see you face to face.
Lord, may our eyes see your saving power.

World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life

February 2, 2021

(Celebrated in Parishes February 6-7)

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples. The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole Church. We hope that you find the following resources helpful for your own celebrations of World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life!

Letter from CICSAL on the Occasion of World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life on February 2, 2021

More Prayers of the Faithful

World Day for Consecrated Life will be celebrated in the Church on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 and in parishes over the weekend of February 6-7, 2021. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation.

Glorious St Blaise

O Glorious Saint Blaise,
who by thy martyrdom
has left to the Church a precious witness to the faith,
obtain for us the grace to
preserve within ourselves this divine gift,
and to defend, without human respect,
both by word and example,
the truth of that same faith,
which is so wickedly attacked
and slandered in these our times.

You who miraculously cured
a little child when it was at the point of death
by reason of an affliction of the throat,
grant us your powerful protection in like misfortunes;
and, above all, obtain for us
the grace of repentance,
together with a faithful observance of our Church,
and avoidance from offending Almighty God. Amen.

Throat Blessing of St Blaise

Through the intercession of St Blaise, bishop and martyr,
may God deliver you from ailments of the throat
and from every other evil.
† In the Name of the Father, and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. †

Living Rosary for February 2021

Our Lady of Lourdes Small Faith Group invites you to join its members in praying the living rosary for the needs of the parish and the community.  For February 2021, we pray
 (1) for people with mental health challenges. We pray that God may provide them with the necessary support, help them to stay patient and positive as they wait for treatments and therapies.

In addition, we will keep in our prayers
(2) the Pope’s monthly intention-
Violence against women: We pray for women who are victims of violence, that they may be protected by society and have their sufferings considered and heeded.

(3) the sick and their caregivers, and
(4) the living and deceased members of our parish.

By volunteering, you will be responsible to say one decade of the mystery of the Rosary every day for the coming month.  If you are interested, please sign-up here.

Prayer for Expectant Parents

Gracious Father, your Word, spoken in love, created the
human family and, in the fullness of time, your Son,
conceived in love, restored it to our friendship.

Hear our prayers as we await the birth of our child.
Calm our fears when we are anxious.
Watch over and support us and bring our child into this world safely
and in good health, so that as members of your family,
we may praise you and glorify you through your Son, our Lord
Jesus Christ, now and forever.
Amen.
Our ladies have been busy during Covid and are thrilled to be helping different organizations as well as our church patrons. Here are some of the other areas for which they have knitting and crocheting.

St Mary’s Hospital Spiritual Care Centre
Below are a few notes of appreciation from people who have received our shawls:
A palliative patient grieving and praying for healing told everyone who called her how comforted she was by the brown and pink knit shawl she had received, according to her daughter at bedside.
A staff member back from a month-long stress leave due to Covid-19 was thrilled to receive a coral crocheted shawl.
Canadian Food for Children
They are making pneumonia vests to keep small children and infants warm.
The Cambridge Poppy Project
10,000 poppies are being crocheted by many people and groups and will be applied to large nets or yard goods and displayed to honour our Veterans this Fall.
If you are in need of a shawl filled with prayers for your loved one (adult or infant) please call Peggy Dietrich at 519-725-5847 or Marg Perrotta at 519-886-8258.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
