Phoenix Delta Zeta Alumnae Mardi Gras Virtual Event
Mardi Gras is traditionally celebrated on 'Fat Tuesday', which is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. This year, Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, February 16, but for Delta Zeta we are celebrating on Wednesday February 17. Join us for our Delta Zeta Happy Hour virtual Mardi Gras event on Wednesday, February 17  at 6:30pm. Wear your purple and green beads and bring your own drinks or favorite cajun food as we celebrate with our sisters.
To join us click link:

Or Call: 1-408-638-0968 Meeting ID: 858 7566 3778
Join us for announcements and then we will celebrate and learn about Mardi Gras and visit with your Delta Zeta sisters. Since event is virtual you can still stay true to any Lent commitments that you start that day. All food will be virtual--the best way to keep the pounds off.

If you have never been to one of our virtual events, you are missing a great opportunity to be with your sisters. Need help with either calling in or going online contact Susan Norman, 602-789-1700 or dzarizona@cox.net. It may still be a while before we can safely meet in person. We want everyone to stay safe!
Centennial Vault: Phoenix Panhellenic First 100 Years
We are opening the Phoenix Panhellenic vault on February 18, 2021. The Panhellenic Archive/History Committee is inviting you to a special event. We have heard from many of you that you did not get to see the Centennial photo slide show or are anxious to view it again. At this special event, the 100 year Phoenix Panhellenic slide show will be shown without commercial interruption. The show itself is approximately 20 minutes long. After the show, you are welcome to stay and reminisce with other Panhellenic women. Many Delta Zeta women are pictured throughout the show. DZ Birdie Fowler Keen was the fourth Panhellenic President 1923-24 and she is the Founder of the Phoenix Alumnae Chapter. She is in the show several times. Others you will recognize are Pat Wells, Mary Pat Pepping, Sue Pickles, Susan Norman, Lee Ann Witt, Lorna Green, Cindy McParland, Ashlee Lepa, Mary Peterson and Diane Stanton. Come and stay for a few minutes or linger. We just hope to see you at the event as we again celebrate our extraordinary Phoenix Panhellenic 100 year history.

Truly Connected Networking Nights

National is excited to announce the dates for the Spring 2021  events, our virtual networking opportunities for collegiate and alumnae members. Similar to the fall, they will host two opportunities to connect and network per month – one based on a targeted professional development topic and one night based on industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask career-specific questions, share their experiences and expertise, and begin creating relationships with sisters of different chapters, ages, and backgrounds. Truly Connected Networking Nights will take place at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, 7:00 p.m. Central, 6:00 p.m. Mountain and 5:00 p.m. Pacific time. You can register for the fall 2020 virtual events by clicking the links below:

Delta Zeta Sorority launched , our first-ever professional women’s conference, in 2016 in Atlanta and have since brought the event to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C. The goal of Truly Connected has always been to connect with members, build skills necessary for navigating a career post college and provide professional growth opportunities for our members. These events have been a manifestation of the Sorority’s strategic plan and promise to enhance alumnae engagement, while also nicely combining our commitment to lifelong learning with the shared desire to empower women to lead and serve.

We are excited to see this opportunity grow and hope you will join us for a Truly Connected Networking Night this spring!

Thanks to Ashlee Lepa for moderating the DZ book club. We have enjoyed great conversations at book club.We have been discussing today's woman and our place in the world. It's not just about the book selection. It's more fun if you have read the book, but not required. You will enjoy even if you have not read the month's book.

Our February book is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. Lydia Quixano Pérez lives in the Mexican city of Acapulco. She runs a bookstore. She has a son, Luca, the love of her life, and a wonderful husband who is a journalist. And while there are cracks beginning to show in Acapulco because of the drug cartels, her life is, by and large, fairly comfortable. “From its heart-stopping first sentence to its heart-shattering last, Cummins’s story of immigrants is just what we need now. Gritty yet sensitive, realistic yet hopeful, grand and granular, American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins is a Grapes of Wrath for our times.” ―Don Winslow, author of the New York Times bestseller The Border. Join our discussion on March 2 at 7pm for this book. Remember the book is only the start of our conversations.
PJ Heyliger
Our sister and Phoenix Alumnae Chapter member, PJ Heylinger has illustrated another book for the young and young at heart. PJ, an art major attended a University in Oklahoma and the University of Hawaii, she did her graduate work at the University of Mexico. Her oils, acrylics and watercolors have been exhibited and collected in New York, New Mexico, Oregon, California, Spain as well as many others parts of the world. One of her paintings hangs in the Jimmy Carter Library. She has circumnavigated the world six times always looking for a new place to snorkel. As a member of the International Circumnavigators Club, PJ was awarded a certificate for visiting all seven continents. We are so happy that PJ and her husband Stan how live in Paradise Valley AZ. You can order the book now from Amazon here.

A Word From Our DZ Book Club Moderator
Have you ever wondered about the experiences of the women who came before you or even the women around you?

I don’t mean their day to day stories at lunch of being busy, fighting traffic, and the latest shows to watch....

Do you wonder: Are there juicy details of struggle and perseverance? What obstacles have they overcome that made theirs and our lives so different? What has made each of our lives so rich with experience?

If so, the Phoenix Alumnae DZ book club is the place for you! Our monthly book is chosen based on conversation starting story lines.

If you think book clubs are about grammar and prose, think again! Skip the technical reviews of plot lines and character building.

This book club gets into the spicy and juicy details of our own experiences as we relate (or don’t relate) to the characters and their strife.

Don’t miss out on what multiple generations have to share in a quick, no drive, hour long zoom once a month!

Sincerely, Ashlee Lepa, JD
