A community in formation
now seeking land near transitways in the Twin Cities

Cedar Cohousing is creating a multi-generational cohousing community that incorporates these elements:
Intentional Community - Fostering personal connections and meaningful relationships within a homeowner association.
Purposeful Design - Creating 35 to 40 eco-friendly, private townhomes or condos ranging in size from studio - 3 bedrooms with ample common space indoors and out to encourage a strong sense of community.
Common Facilities - Providing space for shared meals, hobbies, entertainment and leisure time; e.g. community kitchen, dining room, workshop, laundry, guest rooms, gardens, and play areas.
Urban Focus - Living “green” close to public transit and community amenities for easy walking and biking to reduce sprawl and car dependence.
Ecological Sustainability - Incorporating design goals to reduce energy use and carbon footprint; including renewable materials.
Collective Governance - Using collaborative decision-making throughout our project design and development, and in management of the homeowners’ association thereafter.

TCCN Board statement on confronting white supremacy

We, the board of Twin Cities Cohousing Network, have been meeting to talk about and process what the killing of George Floyd and the world-wide anger and opportunity for global change means to us and to Twin Cities Cohousing Network. We want to listen, respond, and be part of the solution.

The mission of TCCN is to conduct education, outreach and engagement with individuals, families and organizations in order to advance the development of high quality, sustainable cohousing communities in the Greater Twin Cities area.

We recognize that this mission has been primarily accessible to middle-class white people, and needs to be reconsidered and become accessible to all.

As a start, we--as individuals and as a board--are committed to educating ourselves about racism and white supremacy. Here are some resources that we have looked at lately.

With gratitude and hope,
