Valentine's Day Kicks Off Random Acts of Kindness Week!

Did you know that Valentine's Day is also the start of Random Acts of Kindness Week, a week dedicated to celebrating kindness?! We all know how powerful kindness can be, but did you know that it has been scientifically proven that doing kind acts for others, receiving kind acts, and even witnessing kind acts provides an abundance of physical and emotional benefits? Just to name a few, it can lower you levels of stress hormones, decrease feelings of depression, and increase happiness. If you would like to learn more about the positive effects visit our blog.

Random Acts of Kindness Week is a great time to teach your children about kindness through a fun activity! In our search of fun activities, we came across an initiative called Care for Three. Their website explains that their "intention is simple, to make the world a better place one act of kindness at a time" by writing specific message on a heart shaped piece of paper that can be decorated and then placed out into the world for a family member, friend or stranger.

You can learn more about the initiative and find their step-by-step instructions on how to participate by clicking the Care for Three picture of crafted notes to the right.

Once you have completed the project, Care for Three and Kinship Connections of Wyoming invites you to share your messages to our Instagram or Facebook pages to help spread the kindness!

We are excited to announce that Kinship Connections of Wyoming is hosting our first annual 5k run/walk on May 22, 2021 at Lions Park in Cheyenne! It is our goal to raise awareness about kinship care and the critical need for caregiver support across the state of Wyoming all while we celebrate kinship caregivers heroic task of caring for children that are not their own.

You can learn more about our 5k by visiting our events page on our website, or if you are ready to register for the race you can click the button below.

Kinship Connections of Wyoming Support Group

Kinship Connections of Wyoming hosted its first virtual face-to-face support group on January 27th and we are excited to share that our kinship caregivers felt it was an incredible experience to see the connection and comradery that took place, but most importantly the caregivers who participated reported that it was a positive experience. More specifically, one caregiver shared that that the group made her "empowered" and she no longer feels alone on her kinship caregiving journey.

The next facilitated, peer to peer support group will take place on February 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., and will continue to be offered on the last Wednesday of every month at 12:00 p.m.

If you have any questions, please contact your assigned Kinship Navigator or Jena Monahan at (307) 287-4645 or if you are ready to join please click the register button below.
