'Run Free' oil and gold leaf on wood. 103x19cm.
Studio Comings and Goings!
New Year's Day already seems a long time ago now and, despite the chill, surely spring must be on the horizon! Since my move in October I’m loving living so close to the studio and it’s been wonderful being able to get rid of my car and try to lead a slightly greener, cheaper lifestyle. Slight blip occurred on Thursday when I came off my bike at some speed and have a knee the size of a grapefruit and a limp any mad scientist's accomplice would be proud of! That aside, who needs legs to paint anyway!

So here we have a before and after! I gave a boarded-up window a makeover and invented a summer sky! Painted on marine ply for all weather stability, I intend to offer garden paintings as a new line to my existing work. The wood can be cut to fit and could enhance the side of a summerhouse or wall, a recess or indeed anywhere you would like some extra wildlife! Would you like a wolf running through your garden (that's not meant to sound like a threat!)? An aerial display of birds? A grazing stag? Do get in touch if you would like to know more!

'Toyotama' Oil and gold leaf on reclaimed wood panel. 84x57cm
Above we have Toyotama the turtle! I've named her after the daughter of the Japanese sea god Watasumi (whom I painted last year) The story, titled 'Ryujin' can be read here !
'Brigid' Oil and silver leaf on wood panel, 58x11cm
And here we have the lovely Brigid, named after the Goddess of the pagan festival of imbolc. The festival falls on the 1-2 February and marks the beginning of spring (bring it on!). Brigid is associated with swans.
'Lovey Doveys' Oil and gold leaf on wood. Each approx 18x10cm
With a nod to Valentines day I've painted a range of little dove studies above!  Tongue in cheek I have called them my 'Lovey Doveys', they are around postcard size and very postable! At only £40 each and £2 p&p they would make a change from sending roses this year!
'Filaesca'. Acrylic on canvas 61x61 cm.  Nick Andrew
Nick has been working flat out organising this year's Wylye Valley Art Trail ( www.wvat.co.uk ), which all being well will commence on 1 May! Its a fantastic 9- day open studio event that has launched the career (myself included) of many a local artist! Unlike a lot of similar events it is all run on a voluntarily basis.

Our annual toastrack sale is still also ongoing and a real chance to grab an artistic bargain! Included is Nick's 'Filaesca' (above) and some of my older landscape paintings, including 'Cloud Shadows across Aucombe', below.
