Five Weeks to LimmudFest 2021

Session Tracks, Limmud Boneh & Sponsors

In this week’s Torah portion, we read about our collective revelation at Mount Sinai. Hashem spoke the Ten Commandments - or possibly the entire Torah - or maybe just the first letter of the first word of the Ten Commandments - to the entire Jewish people gathered at the base of the mountain. As co-chair of LimmudFest, I believe that we, as Jews, are at our best when we are learning beside each other. While we cannot all stand together in the same space this year, we continue our tradition of collective learning as we find ourselves just over a month away from LimmudFest 2021. In this newsletter, you will find information about LimmudFest 2021, Session Tracks you can follow to organize your learning throughout the day, and opportunities for you or your organization to support the work of Limmud NOLA, providing communal Jewish learning year-round.

LimmudFest 2021 to Celebrate Southern Jewish Life

As you may already have heard, Limmud NOLA will host LimmudFest this year virtually on Sunday, March 14, with opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. CST and sessions running from 12 - 4:30 p.m. CST. The volunteers planning LimmudFest are turning the spotlight this year onto the uniqueness of Jewish life, tradition, and expression in New Orleans, greater Louisiana, and throughout the Gulf South.

Our slate of presenters this year spans the gamut of Jewish knowledge from New Orleans favorites like George Dansker and Rabbi Deborah Silver to national names like Hadar Cohen and Venessa Harper (@lechlechallah) to international presenters Rabbi Dr. Raphael Zarum and Hagai Segal.

“Our sessions are being intentionally designed to break out of your computer screen and get you connected (safely) to our wonderful southern Jewish community through discussion, creation, and movement,” says Leslie Goldberg, co-chair for LimmudFest NOLA 2021. “Whether your passion is studying Jewish text, cooking Jewish food, experiencing and creating Jewish art, or considering Jewish ethics and responsibility, you will find something here in this compacted, virtual LimmudFest.”

Be a Builder with Limmud Boneh

If you, like us, have a passion for Jewish learning, you can become a Limmud Boneh. What is a Limmud Boneh? A Limmud Boneh, or "Limmud Builder," provides funding for Limmud NOLA that helps us build our program and Jewish learning experiences for today and the future in New Orleans, greater Louisiana, and throughout the Gulf States.

In addition to supporting our work this year and beyond, you will gain access to a special learning session with Rabba Yaffa Epstein, Director of the Wexner Heritage Foundation and a favorite Limmud presenter all over the world.
