As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, potential impacts on food prices and food security remain a concern, particularly in Africa South of the Sahara. The SSA-FSP's Africa COVID-19 Food Price Monitor serves as a temperature check of market conditions for staple and non-staple foods at the local level. By tracking food price spikes that could point at supply disruptions, the Monitor helps identify hotspots in food chains.
The Africa South of the Sahara Food Security Portal (SSA FSP), facilitated by IFPRI and supported by the European Commission, provides up-to-date data and information to monitor regional food security situations and food prices, as well as tools for policy analysis and capacity development – all with the aim of providing policymakers and other stakeholders with the information they need to make appropriate and timely responses to address food insecurity.

Please remember to follow the Food Security Portal on social media on Twitter and Facebook, and LinkedIn. You can also subscribe to our French-language Africa South of the Sahara FSP newsletter and our Global FSP newsletter.
