Follow the Example of Jesus - Thoughts with Pastor Matt

This week's Thoughts with Pastor Matt.

If you have kids you know they are always watching! So we should strive to set a good example to them, but also as followers of Christ, we are called to set a good example to everyone. But who's example do we follow? Jesus came to this earth to show us. He set the example that we are called to follow.

Titus 2:7
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness

1 Corinthians 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

John13:15
I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Pay It Forward

The 500 - $5 Simones’ gift cards were split between CMH and VCMC to be given to those who have been working so hard to continue to keep our community healthy during this long pandemic were well received this week by the Hospital Administration. The banner will be hung so all employees will be able to see it. Thank you to all of you who participated!

More ways to serve!

BRING ACTS OF SERVICE TO NEIGHBORS IN NEED.

NOW (Needs of the Week) Projects serve under-resourced seniors, families, and those with disabilities by meeting critical minor repair needs that improve their safety in the home. In order to meet the ever-increasing level of needs in Ventura County, we need committed volunteers like you!

Throughout the year, we connect volunteers to service projects in their communities for neighbors in need. NOW projects can be completed with your skills on your schedule, and most projects take less than 2 hours. Grab your spouse, your kids, a friend or a trusty hammer and sign up for a project!

Weekly Service Opportunities
With the uncertainty surrounding travel and COVID, IMPACT will not be sending teams overseas this summer. Instead This June IMPACT is offering a local weekend experience for you to receive our high-caliber missional training, develop your vision for potential new ways to serve locally, and still connect with our global mission partners virtually. Come le the lord grow your capacity to be his witness!

Have you considered giving up something for Lent? If it is a monetary item (like a daily or weekly treat from Starbucks, eating out, etc) we ask you to consider donating that money to our Significant Sacrifice Campaign. What may seem like an insignificant amount of money ($5 a week or day for that Starbucks treat) makes a significant difference in the life and health of an entire village, not only now, but for generations to come. Donations will be collected throughout Lent. Information on how to donate to Significant Sacrifice will be shared with the congregation soon.

This Sunday…

Counterculture

The Book of Daniel

We live in a culture that is often foreign and hostile to our faith. The book of Daniel is a collection of stories and prophecies written about Jewish believers living in the hostile foreign land of Babylon during the Exile. Therefore, the book of Daniel can teach us a lot about standing firm and living faithfully counter to the culture in which we find ourselves.

This Week's Messages!

Learning the Hard Way: Pride Goes Before a Fall

Daniel 4:1-37

As people of faith, we are called to humility before God and as a way of life with others, counter to our culture of arrogance and pride.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HOST A VIRTUAL BABY SHOWER?

Baby showers are an important part of the pregnancy experience and we want every mother here at Tender Life to feel loved and cared for. This program is meant to help our single mothers throughout the transition of having a baby and provide support for the first few months during her time of need. After all, babies need tons of stuff, and the list can get quite expensive! If you would like to host a shower for a mother at Tender Life, email us at the link below.
