2021 is already bright and filled with hope.

warm winter greetings, friends. we got through january. we experienced chaotic violence and the inauguration of a new administration in the u.s., more virus, feet of snow, money markets rising and falling, more virus, and and and. it seems that the world’s grief never ends. in response, my favorite quote from the central jewish text, the talmud, is "Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."

i believe that when we enter our bodies, we’re entering a contract with the world; with all of her beauty and her grief. as this quote reminds us, we’re not here to fix every problem of our precious world, but we have an obligation to help. and we can. we’re engineered to be aware and develop. regardless of whether your stakes are making money, saving the environment, or ending back pain, we are able to improve ourselves, change for the better, and grow.

in 2021, how will you improve yourself, change for the better, and grow to meet the challenges to do justly, now? walk humbly, now? love mercy, now? for me, my work is to keep understanding who i am, try to help and not harm others, and do what gives me life. to wit, i’m still on the road with my scamp trailer!

i continue to make scamp yoga videos and work from the road. it’s challenging and wonderful, stressful and nurturing, with non-stop fixing broken shit and hustling to decide where to next pause. the practice of conscious relaxation, yoga nidra, helps tremendously. and february is yoga nidra month! please see below for a list of my nidra events this month, including a candlelight restorative yoga nidra series i lead on sundays. join me as we relax deeply and dip into our deeper consciousness, where our inner resources help us to not be daunted by the world’s grief. we got this, friends.

you can become my sustaining supporter by becoming a patron on my patreon page to help me continue creating free yoga classes, a podcast, an interview series, and more. I also offer private and group sessions from the road. email me for more info. thank you.

FEB 13, 1-3:30pm CST: A Conscious Relaxation Workshop: The Theory and Practice of Yoga Nidra
Conscious relaxation is an ancient system perfect for modern times. First mentioned in the classical Indian text the Mahabharata as “yoga nidra,” conscious relaxation is clinically proven to reduce PTSD symptoms, ease pain, and cure insomnia. Learn how deeply resting the body and mind has the potential to heal and guide you to your highest Self. This workshop will consist of an informative slide show lecture explaining the “Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How” of yoga nidra followed by a deep practice. Conscious relaxation, or yoga nidra, is safe for all and can be practiced seated, lying down, and even standing. Understanding the history and structure of yoga nidra will inform your experience of conscious relaxation and deepen your connection to the timeless part of yourself. This workshop will help you:
  • Connect with your highest self
  • Soothe the nervous system
  • Calm down the mind
  • Improve sleep and reduce insomnia
