Welcome to our January 2021 newsletter.  Here is a link to previous newsletters.

Economist Ganesh Nana will be the next chair of the Productivity Commission.  Ganesh is sympathetic with our goals and the Minister of Finance Grant Robertson said “I want to ensure that the Commission, like the Government, looks beyond GDP to find its measures of success, and has the well-being of current and future generations of New Zealanders front of mind".  We hope that Ganesh is able to speak his own mind.

We held our strategy planning weekend in New Plymouth and a focus for this year will be to continue on with the impressive gains we made last year.   We intend to launch another petition, this time with a shorter time-frame, asking the Government to stop giving Covid recovery money to the banks and put it into the productive economy.  We will provide you with the details, once we have set up the petition on Parliament’s website.

We would like to make it as easy as possible for you to collect signatures for the petition so please contact us at info@positivemoney.org.nz with your ideas.

We are also be setting Positive Money New Zealand as an Incorporated Society and will be hold an inaugural AGM soon.  Let us know if you would like to attend the AGM Zoom call through info@positivemoney.org.nz.

We have a number of other initiatives that we will let you know of in the coming months.

Cheers

Don Richards
