At Classics, we have no box
Out of the box thinking and adaptability has always been our norm. At Classics we embrace creative and bold thinking for transformation and we are inspired by our members who have found new purpose (and business opportunity) during this time.
With the hard reality of reduced travellers, our members have not only thought outside their box, but made a real difference in the process. From discovering their green fingers and exploring uncharted territory, to pop up restaurants in the winelands, we are excited to share this first instalment of creative resilience with you.

[ZAMBIA] See (and taste) what The Bushcamp Company are cooking!
Yes, Andy Hogg and THE BUSHCAMP COMPANY team have started farming.
From feeding guests to feeding the community. From 5000 mango and 300 paw paw trees to radishes, cabbage and 2000 citrus trees, THE BUSHCAMP COMPANY is cultivating crops together with delicious honey that comes from 35 beehives and their busy bees who pollinate all these lovely plants.
As the farm continues to grow and develop, so does the training and employment opportunity for the local community. At the same time, they are able to greatly reduce their carbon footprint as they no longer have the need for food transport coming from hundreds of miles away.

[ODZALA] Diving deeper into Africa's rainforests
The team at ODZALA DISCOVERY CAMPS are exploring unique experiences and untouched locations in their 3,3 million acre backyard.
With so much to explore within the vast rainforests of Africa, and time now to do it, the Odzala team are pioneering new guest experiences for when they reopen later this year. In November they undertook an exploration using a piroque (traditional wooden hand-carved boat), and headed north of the Mboko and Lango Camps up the Lekoli River. This journey led them through a series of untouched Baï systems boasting formidable flora and fauna as they carved their way along the river to reach Lokoue and Mambili.

With a continued commitment to protecting community and gorillas amidst the pandemic, ODZALA DISCOVERY CAMPS are delaying their opening.

[South Africa] Gathered for Sunday lunch
Chef and manager, Mel Shepherd is delighted to launch long lazy Sunday lunches at LA CLÉ DES MONTAGNES
Located in the private garden at La Clé Lodge - a hidden sanctuary in Franschhoek, overlooking vineyards - Gathered is their new once a week pop up restaurant. Usually only open to hotel guests, La Cle offers five tables located in the gardens (yip social distancing taken into account) where day visitors can now gather on a Sunday to enjoy a set menu prepared by Mel and her culinary team.
