Practical Tips for Busy Children's Leaders

Accountability

We want to encourage growth in our students, not just head knowledge. Providing a way to hold them accountable, while giving positive reinforcement and encouragement, will encourage them in their own growth and instill healthy, lifelong habits.

Class Charts

  • Small visual for each child with their name on it
  • Stickers
  • Small prizes
Explain you will be having an individual competition for a set number of weeks. Display the visuals for each child somewhere in the class. The children may earn stickers for various activities, such as, remembering to bring a Bible to class, inviting a friend, saying their memory verse, doing the challenge activity during the week, etc. Possibly offer extra stickers for behaviors you especially want to reinforce or are more difficult to achieve (such as bringing a friend). Every time they earn 10 stickers, they win a small prize. Keep small items on hand for them to choose from (bouncy ball, erasers, pencils, etc.).
