COVID-19 Update

Information and advice on COVID-19 and the vaccine

Today the UK has announced that 10 million people have now received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The NHS has published advice and information about the vaccine, including how the vaccine is given, information on the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, ingredients and possible side effects.

North Tyneside vaccination FAQs
TyneHealth (the North Tyneside GP Federation) has a list of FAQs on its COVID-19 Information Hub.

North Tyneside CCG update
The majority of housebound residents aged 70 and over have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine across all primary care networks. Vaccination of the aged 70 and above Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (shielding) is progressing well at our local vaccination services.

If you receive an invitation letter for your vaccine from the national mass vaccination programme, you are welcome to book onto this. But if you would prefer to receive your vaccine at a local North Tyneside vaccination centre, which are in the North West, Wallsend and North Shields, then please wait to be called by your local service. You will be contacted, do not worry. In the meantime, please do not contact your practice.

If you are aged 80 and above and have not had your COVID vaccine, or do not have a date booked for the vaccine, but you would like to receive it, please contact your GP practice who will be able to book it in for you.

Vaccination centre walkthrough

If you are unsure of what to expect when you have your Covid-19 vaccination, we've made this short video walkthrough of North Tyneside resident Judy and her husband having their vaccination at the Parks in North Shields. Please share this with anyone who you feel would benefit.

VODA News

Living Well North Tyneside Partnership

The pandemic has shone a spotlight on the benefits partnership working and joint messaging across sectors. It has also highlighted the importance of receiving trusted, reliable information and to be able to easily access online services and support.

In North Tyneside the SIGN Directory has for many years provided a useful list of services available in the borough, however it's time for something more accessible, engaging and to build on what we have learnt over the past year.

In 2020 VCS organisations, North Tyneside Council, North Tyneside CCG, TyneHealth and our 4 Primary Care Networks came together to create the Living Well North Tyneside Partnership to build on the foundations of the SIGN Directory and develop a new online platform called Living Well North Tyneside.

We need your help
We've created this animation to show the story so far. We would like to engage as many people as possible to develop a platform which meets everyone's needs. If you would like to be involved, contact claire.howard@voda.org.uk if you are interested in:
  • reflecting the needs of potential users
  • testing the site
  • sharing skills and expertise
  • providing access to focus groups

GP Screen information

Many organisations are unaware that they can promote their services on GP Surgery Screens. VODA has put together an information sheet for VCS organisations, which has been developed in partnership with North Tyneside CCG, highlighting what type of information can be uploaded onto GP surgery screens, including formats and a direct contact to send it to. VODA can also provide support to small VCS organisations who need help producing content for the GP screens.
