This is an outstanding c. 1899 Chinese manuscript view of the city of Qingdao (Tsingtao), China, as it appeared early in the German colonial period. A very attractive 1845 view of Jerusalem issued by Nathaniel Whittock. The view, purportedly drawn by the Librarian of the Armenian Convent, looks northward on Jerusalem from a hill to the south, in Bethlehem. This is a rare c. 1957 map of India, Southeast Asia, the East Indies, and the Philippines intended to propagandize the achievements of the 'Colombo Plan' - a multinational economic initiative intended to foster social and economic development in the Asia-Pacific region. The map is entirely in Chinese and is presumably intended to propagandize the Colombo Plan to a Chinese audience. This is an uncommon 1883 U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey nautical chart or maritime map of Nantucket, Massachusetts. The map depicts from Hyannis to Chatham Port and south to include most of Nantucket Island to Old Man's Shoal, with the exception of the western-most part of the island, which extends beyond the map's scope. This is Robert Wilkinson's lovely, first edition 1794 map of Switzerland. The map shows the country and its neighbors on the eve of Napoleonic invasion of 1798. The French tried to centralize authority in Switzerland by forming the Helvetic Republic (1798 – 1803). Until then, the area consisted of independent cantons united by a loose military alliance.
