Mountains to Sea is back for 2021

Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival is online for 2021 and we are delighted to  invite you to meet our guests from the comfort of your own home!

We begin on 8 March marking International Women's Day with Maggie O'Farrell and Jennifer O'Connell, followed by a packed programme on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 March.

As we continue to expect the unexpected in 2021, we are  learning to  be ‘Of The Moment’ because…well…what else is there? Each of our guest authors is Of The Moment and we welcome Professor Noam Chomsky, Rebecca Solnit, Evan Osnos, Danielle McLaughlin, Raven Leilani, Paula Meehan, Tishani Doshi and  Professor Jim Lucey to name but a few.

For the full Festival line-up and to book tickets, visit the website: mountainstosea.ie or click link below.

New! Get hooked with new video on deep fake and misinformation.

Calling all teachers, students and anyone with an interest in current affairs and social media!
dlr Libraries are pleased to present a new video, created by media educator Ricardo Castellini da Silva and Metatech, which takes a walk-through the exhibition:  The Glass Room: Misinformation Edition. This is an exhibition on mobile technology and data, and how it can be manipulated. It was created by Tactical Tech and promoted by The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.

This topic is of utmost concern, never more so as we are fed a continuous stream of news from around the world – from politics to the pandemic, climate change to celebrity culture. How do we read information and react to it? Who or what can we trust? Are you using your phone, or is it using you? How do we fight back with a data detox plan? Read on!

Ricardo’s new video talks us through the exhibition and includes numerous tips/quizzes to keep you one step ahead during this volatile era. View it here from Friday 5 February when it will be live.

Online yoga for parents

Yoga & Relaxation for Parents of Children with Additional Needs

Sat 6 February, 11.00am via Zoom

Delivered by yoga teacher Tanja Thomas. This class focuses on giving the benefits of Yoga and Relaxation to parents who face the daily challenges of caring for their child with additional needs. To give yourself a timeout while doing something good for body, mind and soul. To practise some guilt-free selfcare and recharge your batteries in a loving atmosphere is what this class is all about.

Being the parent of a child with needs can ask a lot of you on a day to day basis. As a mum of a child with needs herself, Tanja knows this from experience and has designed this class especially for parents of children with additional needs. In the class we will practice gentle yoga poses to address common tension areas in the body (shoulders, neck, back) and help with flexibility and balance. Not only that but we will learn how to regulate emotions and release stress with specific easy breath techniques as well as help with being able to let go and bring back ease during deep relaxation. Everything you need in the space of an hour to leave you feeling balanced and being able to take on the world again.

This is a class suitable for anyone and you don’t have to have any yoga experience.

A yoga mat or any non-slip surface, pillows, blankets and a space to comfortably move is all you need for this class. Booking via Eventbrite.
