Tree Warden Educational Opportunities
The newly amended Vermont tree warden statutes went into effect Nov. 1st, 2020. Here are a few ways that VT UCF is supporting tree wardens and municipalities this spring:
  • Tree Warden School, March 15-April 16: A free, online course for tree wardens. This self-paced course will focus on understanding the role and responsibilities of the tree warden, identifying trees as a public resource, and connecting with stakeholders in your municipality.
  • Shade Tree Preservation Plan Assistance: VT UCF is partnering with 10 municipalities to develop local Shade Tree Preservation Plans, a new optional element of the amended tree warden statutes.  The selected communities are Charlotte, East Montpelier, Hartford, Johnson, Middlebury, Monkton, Mount Holly, Shrewsbury, St. Albans City, and West Windsor,
  • VT UCF will be working with the Vermont League of Cities and Towns' Municipal Assistance Center to develop additional statute guidance and trainings.
