Renovation Funding for Battle of Beaverdams Park

Government funding was announced on Monday, February 1, 2021, for the renovation of the Battle of Beaverdams Park in Thorold. The project involves the construction of a new entranceway to the park with new lighting, asphalt walking trails, an accessible playground, and washroom amenities. A central plaza will be created to house historical artifacts currently in the park. Other project elements include upgrading the band shell by adding amphitheatre style seating, drainage and landscaping improvements. Read more ....

February 24 is Pink Shirt Day! Save the date and plan to make a difference in Thorold and surrounding communities by pulling together to help stop bullying. Show us your pink shirts! Share the love on your social media and use the key hash tags: #pinkshirtday #stopbullying #antibullying #nobullyingThorold. Let's focus on pulling together and treating others with dignity and respect. As this photo of the kids taken before the pandemic shows us, COVID-19 has affected everyone. In 2021, the kids would be wearing face masks while showing us we're all in this together and supporting those in need. Join the movement to stop bullying and support programs that promote healthy self esteem and teach empathy, compassion and kindness in Thorold. The Internet is Berning up with memes of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, dressed in a parka and puffy mittens, relaxing pensively, sitting in a folding chair at the outdoor inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Jan. 20. So we're jumping on the bandwagon with this fun meme showing Bernie dreaming of a move to Thorold - probably because Canada offers free healthcare for all. LOL!
