January 2021

We went on a short train ride for Hudson’s birthday and loved it!
We are settled back in Tennessee after a long and uneventful road trip from Oregon at the beginning of January! We spent five days in our Jeep listening to audio books, stopping at countless rest stops, drinking coffee, begging our kids to nap, and talking. It was a marvelous trip that included a stop at my alma mater (God bless OBU!), but we are so thankful to be settled into a beautiful home here in Chattanooga.

We have no doubt that this is where God wants our family for this season and we are excited to see what He does in the next year or so while we learn French.

In January we...
- Moved into a beautiful and welcoming home that was filled with groceries and gifts from sweet friends.
- Enjoyed playing in the warm Tennessee sunshine.
- Ate lunch and ice cream with some friends from the Togo South Team.
- Celebrated Hudson’s second birthday with a train ride and cake.
Here's how you can be praying for us in February:

- For perseverance, humility, and wisdom. Pray that we will work with all our might towards learning French.
For wisdom and balance. As we work with all our might, pray too that we will be able to balance all the demands of language learning, family, relationships, etc.
- For spiritual growth. Pray that God will continue to grow and stretch us. Pray, too for Ruth, Clara, and Hudson's salvation.

Coming Up

Language classes take up most of our time during the week, but we are excited for a marriage retreat at our church here on February 12 - 13; we were really hoping to participate in a marriage retreat before leaving for the field, so we are very thankful! We have our first set of exams the following week (February 18 - 19).

Ministry Update

We’re starting month two of language learning! Melissa has classes every morning and Allen has them every afternoon. We shared a blog post answering some of the big questions we’ve received about our classes; click here to read it! We tried to cover everything, but let us know if you have other questions!

Togo Central Team

Pray for the Togo Central Team to have a clear vision of how God is leading us in Kara. Pray that we will connect well with our teammates, even before we get to the field. Pray that God will already be preparing a place for our family there in ministry, relationships, and for housing. Pray for our team leaders, Lee and Violette.
Due to insurance cost increases, we are no longer fully funded. If you are interested in joining our partnership team, we’d love to share more with you about what that means. Simply reply to this email and let us know.
