Patrol Update
A huge THANK YOU, to all patrolling members that answered the late call for patrol on the weekend. Your last minute effort and volunteering of time was much appreciated.
Saturday was busy with a large contingent of stingers deterring much of the public from having a last swim prior to the return of school. Sunday proved its own challenge with an algae bloom closing the beach. This meant constant liaising with members of the public, which I’ve been informed was managed with great professionalism by our new SRC members.

Comp Cap Recap
Fantastic job at Muttonbird beach!
Colin and I were so impressed with the turnout of competitors on Sunday. None of you balked at the thought of hitting Muttonbird and having a go. It was a large program to get through and everyone did it with gusto. Something we noted was that more of you are having a go at the Ironman as an individual event instead of doing it in as a duo. This shows a growing confidence in your own personal ability and fitness. We always knew you could do this, but it’s great to see that light bulb moment when you realise yourself that you can do it. There is no turning back now!!

Sea Shepherd Event Update
On Friday 15th of January, the Sea Shepherd beach clean up was held and it was a huge success! Despite a ‘howling’ easterly, 28 clubbies showed up at the Club for the beach clean up, and many of our enthusiastic Nipper Community joined in.
Everyone, including the Sea Shepherd volunteers, were shocked by how much rubbish was collected from Middleton Beach and the surrounding dunes and green areas. It was disappointing to see just how much rubbish there was.

Over 50 competitors of all age groups tackled the 1 km, 2 km and the longer 4 km distance. Results and the presentations will be announced at the end of year awards.
Thank you to Ryde Building Company for your continued sponsorship of the club. Congratulations to all the competitors and a thank-you to parents and volunteers for assisting with the event.
Muttonbird Away Weekend
The perfect weather conditions on Sunday contributed to a wonderful morning of surf competitions at Muttonbird beach. The IRB trainees also enjoyed the morning learning new skills.
A large turnout of Nippers, Youth and Senior competitors enjoyed the small swell and the crystal clear water provided a perfect arena. What a treat to enjoy a perfect sandy beach!
