The FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES 2021 funding call is now open!

The FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES Partnership Support Instrument (PSI) is a granting scheme that offers small-scale financial support for building and maintaining the Finnish scientific community’s research and innovation cooperation initiatives with their peers in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean, and addressing one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The 2021 call for funding under the Partnership Support Instrument will support the re-starting and development of partnerships between the Finnish science community and counterparts in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean to respond to the challenges posed by COVID-19 and the new realities for cooperation. Unlike previous calls, there are no pre-defined funding modalities.

Activities applied for must meet the following criteria:

  • Respond to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals, and
  • Support either:
    • the initiation of a new collaborative research partnership with a peer (or peers) in Africa, Asia, or the LAC regions or
    • the re-establishment or development of an existing collaborative research partnership with a peer (or peers) in Africa, Asia, or the LAC regions.

Activities can include, but are not limited to: digitalization, virtual events, translation, small-scale infrastructure support, networking, training, digital production or publication, platform activities. A combination of these activities is also possible. Travel costs are not excluded but are not encouraged at this time.

The maximum amount of funding for a single grant is 4 000€.

Opportunities from the LEAP-RE and LEAP4FNSSA projects
High-level online workshop “COVID-19 and the Health-Energy-Climate Nexus”, 16-17 February 2021
The co-chairs of the African Union - European Union Research & Innovation Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy announce their first workshop and invite interested researchers, private sector actors, and policy-makers to register. The workshop will focus on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy in relation to COVID-19 recovery and resilience packages (Day 1), and Health-energy climate nexus (Day 2).

LEAP-RE Call for AU-EU Collaborative Research and Innovation projects on Renewable Energy
The LEAP-RE project has launched a transnational call for research, innovation and capacity building projects, funded by national/regional funding agencies and by the European Commission. The call will fund basic research, applied research, and experimental development projects that are 12-36 months long.

Request for proposals: external independent evaluation of the LEAP4FNSSA project monitoring and evaluation
The LEAP4FNSSA project consortium, including UniPID, is looking for a researcher or small team of researchers not belonging to an institution member of the LEAP4FNSSA consortium to conduct an external and independent evaluation of LEAP4FNSSA monitoring data and data collection tools. Please note that researchers based at the University of Helsinki are not eligible to apply because the University of Helsinki/UniPID is a project partner.
