Social Media for Engaging with Communities - online using Public-I
Emmie Main - The University of Edinburgh

Thursday 18th February 2 pm - 4 pm

Covid-19 has brought many challenges for practitioners but none is more apparent than the challenge of engaging with communities when we can’t be face-to-face. Social media has grown in popularity and accessibility since the turn of the century. Social media platforms provide an opportunity for practitioners to engage directly with communities, to share and promote their work, to engage with partners and create new relationships, and in recent times, to keep us together from a distance. When used correctly, social media can be a powerful tool for sharing useful information, creating learning opportunities and making your presence known in a local community. This session will cover Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram and will discuss safe use of social media.
