You may notice that there is a theme running through this newsletter – in a word, ‘opportunity.’ The world of aging is changing and evolving rapidly. There are new ways that companies are connecting with aging consumers, from launching technology to better meet their needs to efforts to put an end to outdated ageist attitudes. YouAreUNLTD is pleased to showcase some of these inspiring initiatives that have caught our attention, and hopefully, yours, too.

Experts reveal how to tap into the booming longevity economy

Forget Bitcoin and real estate speculation. The longevity economy is rife for more upward potential – a realization that is taking hold for private and corporate investors. The numbers can’t – and shouldn’t be – ignored. There are 1.6 billion adults age 50+ globally with that number poised to double in the next 30 years. These were the conclusions of aging experts and investors who attended a virtual 2020 Century Summit held by the Longevity Project and the Stanford Center on Longevity in December. Read more now.

Sunlife aims to end ageism once and for all

A new report from Sunlife UK sets out to shine a spotlight on the issue of ageism – specifically on the misrepresentation of people over the age of 50 in society and in the media. The company conducted research with adults in this demographic to find out when they first felt they became invisible or neglected in society, who or what neglects them the most, which brands champion them (and which ones don’t) and how all this makes this group think, act and feel, both physically and mentally. New age-positive image library tackles negative stereotypes of aging

Our colleagues at the Centre for Aging Better have recently launched the first free library showing ‘positive and realistic’ images of older people in a bid to challenge negative and stereotypical views of later life. The images show a more realistic depiction of ageing – to provide alternatives to the commonly used pictures of wrinkled hands or walking sticks. To access this library, click here.

Prevent FOMO (fear of missing out). Tap into the longevity economy!
