My old friend Tom Elliott, who produced the Peter Schiff Show back when it was on terrestrial radio, recently summarized Dr. Fauci's instructions on masks:

I got a haircut yesterday and the subject of two masks came up. Both people working there couldn't believe how ridiculous that sounded. "You'd barely be able to breathe!" one of them said.
It encourages me when I run into random people with sensible thoughts.
Meanwhile, Dr. Osterholm, also on the Biden COVID team, warns that two masks could be harmful. "If you add on another mask, you may actually make it tougher for the air to move through the two-cloth area, and then at that point it causes more air to actually leak around the sides, which actually enhances your ability to get infected," he said on Meet the Press.

Despite these different policies, they all peaked and declined at the same time, and despite the Fauci warning of a Christmas surge, they all peaked weeks before Christmas in each case:
